AdBlue IBC Care and Return Guide
HOW IBC CONTAINER DEPOSITS WORK
Our prices include delivery and, where applicable, IBC collection.
Due to the high value of our 1000L IBC containers, a refundable deposit is required on each container. This deposit is returned once the same TW Fuels IBC is returned in good, reusable condition.
How the IBC deposit works:
New customers
A £140 + VAT refundable IBC deposit is charged on your first order.
This is refunded when your TW Fuels IBC is returned to us in eligible condition and no further IBC refills are required.
Existing customers (IBC refill & swap)
If you’re simply replenishing your AdBlue®, we’ll deliver a full 1000L IBC and collect your existing TW Fuels IBC at the same time.
Your original deposit is transferred to the replacement IBC, ensuring a deposit remains against the container on site.
Important return conditions
Only TW Fuels IBC containers can be returned as part of the refill or deposit process
Returned IBCs must be:
• In good condition
• With all seals intact
• All caps in place
• Free from damage or contamination
If an IBC returned is not a TW Fuels container, damaged, or has broken seals, we reserve the right to charge £140 + VAT to cover the container and any additional transport costs.
If the empty IBC is not ready for collection at the time of delivery, a re-collection charge may apply or an additional £140 + VAT IBC deposit will be required.
Ending your IBC service
If you no longer require refills, your original IBC deposit will be refunded once the TW Fuels IBC is returned in eligible condition with all seals intact.
• Return transport is the customer’s responsibility
• If TW Fuels is asked to collect the IBC, the refund will be issued minus the collection charge
When an IBC Return May Be Rejected
To ensure safety, quality, and compliance with ISO standards, all returned IBC containers must meet our acceptance criteria. An IBC may be rejected and charged if any of the following apply:
Leaking or contaminated
Any signs of leaks, residue, contamination, or incorrect contents will result in rejection.Product remains in the container
We are unable to transport unknown or leftover liquids without the correct waste management licence.
If any product remains in the IBC, a disposal charge will apply.
The IBC must be empty and free from contaminants.Tamper seal broken
IBCs must be returned with seals intact to meet ISO handling standards.CDS fitting removed or damaged
The CDS fitting must be present and in good working condition.Breather removed or damaged
The breather must be fitted and undamaged.Identification plate missing or damaged
The IBC identification plate must be present and clearly readable for traceability and ISO compliance.Damaged IBC structure
Including damage to the cage, frame, bottle, valve, or caps, cracks, splits, impact damage, distortion, or compromised integrity.Over 12 months old
For quality control and ISO compliance, IBCs over 12 months from supply may not be accepted for reuse.
If an IBC is rejected for any of the above reasons, a £140 + VAT container charge may apply, along with any additional transport or disposal costs incurred.
Collection readiness
Please ensure the empty TW Fuels IBC is ready for collection at the agreed time and location when your replacement is delivered.
If the IBC is not ready for collection, an additional return collection charge will be applied, or a further IBC deposit (£140 + VAT) may be required.
TW Fuels – IBC Exchange & Collection Procedure
1) Check your IBC before requesting a replacement or collection
Before arranging an exchange or return, please ensure your TW Fuels IBC meets all of the following criteria:
No damage to the container, cage, frame, valve, or caps
The IBC is completely empty (no remaining product) and free from contaminants
The breather cap (large centre cap) tamper-proof numbered seal is intact and the breather has not been removed or damaged
The CDS extractor pipe (smaller offset cap) is present and has not been removed or damaged
The identification label/plate is present and clearly readable
Please also note the IBC serial number before proceeding.
2) Requesting an exchange or return
When requesting a replacement IBC (or collection of an empty container if you no longer require refills), please provide our team with:
The IBC serial number
Confirmation of whether the IBC meets the criteria above
If the IBC meets the acceptance criteria, your IBC deposit will be transferred to the replacement container or refunded (if the service is ending), as applicable.
All returned IBCs are checked and validated by our driver at the point of collection, with any discrepancies recorded.
If the IBC does not meet the criteria in Section 1, a new IBC deposit may be required. Our team will discuss the issue with you and explain any applicable charges.
If a deposit is forfeited for any reason, the customer is entitled to retain the empty IBC container.
3) Delivery & collection
TW Fuels will deliver your replacement IBC and collect the empty container at the same time, where possible.
In some cases, the delivery driver may be unable to collect the empty IBC at the point of delivery. If this happens, a separate collection will be arranged within 14 days. This does not affect the status of your IBC deposit and does not change the terms outlined above.
